Summary:1952 1951-1960 "Ideas at work, 1952" [BW0211], 1952, Trades Union Congress The British Productivity Council was established in 1952 as a successor to the Anglo-American Council on Productivity. Its primary purpose was to introduce more effective management techniques. It established a network of local productivity associations and it had a large budget to produce films, bulletins and pamphlets advocating productivity, 'best practice' and work study techniques. Government grant aid ended in 1973 and it was finally abolished in 1978.
