description 1943 1943 1940s 3 preliminary leaves, 9-62 pages : illustrations, diagrams community. An efficient system of sick visiting will be indispensable. Similarly, in the field of labour the Employment Exchange acts positively to get men and women back to work as soon as possible. If there is a job which a man can do, even if the offer is at a distance, it may be quite necessary to insist on his accepting the offer, rather than to remain idle on the benefit list. Something like the war-time regulation of the labour market — both employers and employed — will still be needed if we are to maintain full employment. Mass unemployment is the peril of peace. In a word, we must aim at a more socially minded community whose citizens are ready to make common cause against their personal misfortunes and are ready to accept the common remedies for them in the interests of all. 60 15X/2/566/303
