THE SOUTH WESTERN FED. OF TRADE COUNCILS. Headquarters only at 1, WATERLOO ROAD, RADSTOCK AFFILIATED UNIONS: SOMERSET MINERS' ASSOCIATION TRANSPORT & GENERAL WORKERS Branches 3/91 & 3/207 3/4 NATIONAL UNION RAILWAYMEN. N.U.D.A.W. RAILWAY VEHICLE BUILDERS. BAKERS NATIONAL FED. BUILDING TRADE OPERATIVES. NAT. UNION GENERAL & MUNICIPAL WORKERS. NAT. UNION PRINTING & BOOKBINDING UNION. Sir Walter Citrine March 18 1943 P.C. noted 24.3.43. EM. Dear Sir, I am instructed to forward you the following Resolution passed at our last meeting. Resolution. That this Council representing some 5,000 organised Trade Unionists regrets the action of Labour Cabinet Ministers, certain Labour members in accepting only part of the Beveridge scheme. Leaving out some most important parts which vitally affect the interests of millions of workers. It views with alarm what it can only interpret as the interference of moneyed power with the legitimate & justified claims of the mass of the community, to security from want. It calls upon them in view of the declaration of the Atlantic Charter & the many avowals of the fight for a better society, to further implement what this meeting considers to be the greatest proposals for social improvement known for hundreds of years. Yours Sincerely. H.J. Blacker Hon. Sec.
