PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL JT.S.I.C.&.W.C.F.C.14/1 2nd August, 1945 TRADES UNION CONGRESS NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE Report on an examination of the replies given by the Minister of Health and the Secretary of State for Scotland to the General Council deputation on the 8th March and subsequent announcements about negotiations with other bodies. We have examined the Ministers' statements in reply to the representations made to them on the 8th March by a General Council deputation. For this purpose the Council will represent all the principal professional and other expert viewpoints." In addition there will be Standing Advisory Committees:- "(a) Standing Medical Advisory Committee, set up by the statute; (b) Standing Hospitals Advisory Committee, set up by the statute; (c) Such other Standing Advisory Committees (e.g. on dentistry) as might be set up by the Minister in consultation with the Central Council under a general statutory power to set up additional committees." The Central Council will also have full powers to set up from time to time any ad hoc committees. The medical standing committee will of course be wholly medical and that committee as well as other standing committees will have direct access to the Minister but all minutes and
