NATIONAL JOINT COMMITTEE FOR SPANISH RELIEF AND BASQUE CHILDREN'S TRUST LTD. PRESIDENT: THE DUCHESS OF ATHOLL, D.B.E., D.C.L. CHAIRMAN: THE LADY LAYTON VICE-CHAIRMAN: THE EARL OF LISTOWEL. HON. TREASURER: VISCOUNT CECIL OF CHELWOOD, P.C. K.C. HON. SECRETARIES: Mr. D.R. GRENFELL, M.P. Mr. WILFRID ROBERTS, M.P. HON. APPEAL SECRETARY: Mrs. V.E. MILLER SECRETARY: MISS M. PICKEN. 39, VICTORIA STREET, LONDON, S.W.1. TELEPHONE: ABBEY 7463 November. 1946. Dear Sir, I am sending you a copy of our Annual Report & Balance Sheet so that you may be kept informed of the progress of the work which you have been good enough to support. Naturally we had hoped that the need to appeal would by now have been at an end but once again we have to ask you to help us. It is easy to see by Press Reports from Spain that there is little hope of a really settled life there for some time to come and our responsibilities towards the young Spanish refugees still in this country are not yet at an end. We are most anxious to be able to build up a small Fund, too, for repatriation when the time comes. As other urgent appeals for help - possibly of more topical interest - drain the purses of the generous hearted public, our income has naturally decreased to minimum and we are only able to finance the barest necessities of the work with the help of our few faithful friends. May I still count you among these? I hope so. Please do send what you can to help us carry on our big undertaking of 1937 until such time as we can relax our efforts with the satisfaction of a job well and truly done. Thank you again for your help now and in the past Yours sincerely, Katharine Atholl
