Description
Summary:1937-10-26 039-0053-002 -2- Committee, and the aforementioned Father Gabana, Senor Uranga, and Sir Arnold Wilson, M.P., examined in detail all the applications in writing in the custody of and produced by Father Gabana Now we having considered all the documents before us and statements made to us as aforementioned do find that :- 1. The Spanish Children now in England were removed from Spain with the consent of their parents or guardians and the then existing government at Bilbao to protect them from the risks and dangers of War then raging in and around Bilbao. 2. All parties are agreed that today there is no immediate risk of War in and around Bilbao and it is safe for the said children to be returned to their parents. 3. The de facto government now governing in and around Bilbao is willing that the children removed from Spain as aforementioned should forthwith be repatriated. 4. The Apostolic Delegate at Bilbao is in favour of the return of the aforementioned children to their parents or guardians in Bilbao and is acting for, and in the interests of the large majority of such children and their parents or guardians. 5. That 387 applications in writing relating to about 800 children produced by Father Gabana are genuine applications signed by the parents or other relations or guardians of the children or approved by them in the presence of witnesses, 292/946/39/53(ii)
