Dear Miss Adam, I am sending you herewith the Report and Financial Statement of the work of the National Joint Committee for Spanish Relief for 1943-1944, and once more I want to appeal to you for your aid in keeping this work going. As you will see from the Report, many of the children are reaching the age when they become in varying degrees self-supporting but you will readily understand that, as they are without their parents or any home of their own, the Committee has still to help many, even of these, on a regular basis, and there is the ever recurring responsibility of finding them lodgings and jobs, of helping them in time of sickness, and with advice on any of their problems and difficulties. Unfortunately, there are many cases of serious ill-health which are only now becoming apparent and which are believed to be due to the hardship and suffering which the children had to face during the Spanish War. This necessarily causes extra care and expense if they to bo able to return to Spain when the war in Europe is over. Will you, in spite of all the other claims the war brings you, help us again in this work? It is something more than humanitarian, for it offers one more opportunity of contributing to the building of a new and better world. 292/946/35/82(vii)
