The joint meeting of the I.F.T.U. Executive and L.S.I. Bureau opened in the Board Room of the Confederation Generale du Travail, Paris, under the chairmanship of L. de Brouckere. 2. In addition, there were present: For the I.F.T.U. Hicks, Jacobsen, Jouhaux, Kupers and Schevenels. Mertens, who was unable to attend was represented by Bondas. For the L.S.I. Van Roosbroeck, Buset, Wels, Blum, Gillies, Albarda, Modigliani, Abromovitch, Voigt, Graber, De Block and Adler. The Spanish Trade Union and Labour Movements were represented by Vega and Cordero, respectively. 3. There were circulated to the meeting copies of the Resolutions on world peace and international understanding and the Spanish situation, adopted by the extraordinary meeting of the I.F.T.U. General Council on 9-10 November (see Appendix) together with a memorandum drafted by the I.F.T.U. Secretariat, containing proposals for (a) the organisation of Spanish relief. (b) Campaign for world peace. SPANISH SITUATION 4. CORDERO, (Spain) again referred to their demand for an all-in International Conference, which would discuss and formulate a policy of all outstanding problems relating to Spain. 5. Upon it being pointed out that apart from such a Conference being impossible from the point of view of both the L.S.I. and the I.F.T.U., its tendency would be to weaken rather than strengthen the campaign for Government Spain, the Spanish representatives withdrew their proposal. 6. Discussion then took place on the proposal for on international deputation to Governments. 292/946/17a/5(i)
