That, in view of General Franco's admission as published in the Giornale d'ltalia, that the intervention of the Italian legionaries has been decisive during the latest engagements in Spain, the Spanish Government should have the right restored to it to buy the arms necessary for its defence. 2. That adequate protection should be given to British ships trading with Spain, by the provision of a convoy system up to the three mile limit, and that H.M. Government should insist on the immediate compensation by the rebel authorities of all British seamen injured as the result of insurgent aerial and naval attacks. 3. That H.M. Government should bring pressure to bear on the Italian and German Governments for the withdrawal of all foreign troops and technicians from Spain. The Spain Emergency Committee has already asked the Prime Minister to receive them and will, if the Prime Minister receives them in person, call at 10, Downing Street at 2.30 p.m. The Deputation is proposing to call on Mr. Attlee, Sir Archibald Sinclair, Mr. Alfred Barnes, M.P. (President of the Co-operative Party), The Secretary of the Trades Union General Council, Mr. Eden, Mr. Lloyd George, and Mr. Winston Churchill in order to urge that party political differences should not stand in the way of an immediate joint campaign to secure the right for the Spanish Government to buy the arms necessary for the defence of the Spanish people and world democracy. All organisations and individuals prepared to participate in the Deputation, which will assemble in the Caxton Hall at 1.45 p.m. are asked to communicate immediately with the Spain Emergency Committee, 18 Grosvenor Crescent Mews, S.W.1. - SLO 2161.
