The deputation will be held in the afternoon, and I am delighted that we may add your name to our list. It will be led by Lord Cecil and Dr. Gilbert Murray, and among those who have consented to participate are:- Mr. R.A. Palmer (representing the Co-operative Union) The Dean of Chichester Professor Harrad Professor Tawney. Professor Seton-Watson Professor E.R. Dodds Professor Chapman Lord Listowel. Lord Davies. Mr. St.John Hutchinson, K.C. Mr. John Goss The purpose of the deputation is to urge the Prime Minister, before his visit to Rome, to bring pressure to bear upon Signor Mussolini for the withdrawal of all Italian troops and technicians from Spain, and to state categorically that there can be no question of the granting of belligerent rights to General Franco before all foreign troops and technicians are withdrawn from Spain.
