Description
Summary:012a-0016-001 International. HVT/HBK/AT/218 22nd November, 1938. Sr. Abel Moreno, XIX Cuerpo de Ejercito, 66 Division, 16 Brigada Mixta, Barcelona. Dear Comrades, We thank you for your two letters received on the 16th November and signed by representatives of the U.G.T., C.N.T. and other republican organisations. The British labour movement fully appreciates the great significance for the cause of democracy, and for the working class all over the world, of the resistance of republican Spain to the Fascist invaders; and we shall continue to give to your cause all the moral and material support in our power. A representative of your U.G.T., Mr. Vega, has today met the members of our National Council of Labour, and has made a statement to it on the conditions in Spain. Further, we may inform you that a joint meeting is to be held this week between representatives of the International Federation of Trade Unions and the Labour and Socialist International, at which the problems of Spain will be one of the chief subjects on the Agenda. You may feel confident, therefore, that the questions raised in your letters will not be overlooked. With best wishes and fraternal greetings, Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary. 292/946/12a/16
