TELEGRAMS BEWARE. NORWEST LONDON TELEPHONE EUSTON 4771 (five lines) The National Union of Railwaymen Unity House Euston Road London N.W.1 AEW. J. MARCHBANK General secretary G.W. Brown ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY Your ref. WMC/WJB/AC/430. In your reply refer to G.S. Sir Walter Citrine, K.B.E., General Secretary, Trades Union Congress General Council, Transport House, Smith Square, London, S.W. 1. 2nd April, 1938. Dear Sir Walter, I have received your letter of the 1st instant, enclosing copy of telegram you have received from the Spanish T.U.C., and also a copy of your reply thereto. I am fully in agreement with the line you have taken and also approve the suggestion that an effort should be made for an interview to be arranged between the members of the Finance and General Purposes Committee and Lord Halifax, the subject of the interview to be confined to the removal of the arms embargo. I trust that members of the General Council will approve of the suggestion and that an early meeting will be arranged. Yours faithfully, John Marchbank
