Secretary's. HVT/FC/EK/599. 19th January, 1939. Miss Nancy E. Bell, International Peace Campaign, 18, Grosvenor Crescent Mews, London, S.W.1. Dear Miss Bell, SITUATION IN SPAIN. I have your letter of the 18th instant asking me to receive a deputation on Tuesday next from your Committee. In reply I may say that the National Council of Labour is deeply concerned in regard to the present position in Spain and the matter is under urgent consideration. Whilst certain immediate action is to be taken the question will again be discussed by the National Council of Labour on Tuesday morning next. I shall be engaged on Tuesday afternoon and under all the circumstances I am afraid it will not be possible for me to accede to the request contained in your letter. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary.
