FIdeSol. 408 WMC/WJB/AC/644 INTERNATIONAL. 20th April 1937 Mr. W. Schevenels, International Federation of Trade Unions, 9, Avenue D'Orsay, PARIS VII. Dear Comrade Schevenels, ONTENIENTE. Doctors & Nurses. With reference to your letter of the 6th April the view of our Dr. Morgan is that the amount of remuneration offered for surgeons is not enough. For six or seven guineas a week we could obtain men with sufficient surgical knowledge to render very satisfactory work. He has been making enquiries and has received an application from a Dr. Sligo. This doctor has had considerable surgical experience and has been a resident doctor in Manor House hospital. He can be recommended both from the point of view of surgical work and character. He will be free until July 28, and would go at once to the hospital if it could be arranged for him to receive say six pounds per week. Further, his wife is a qualified nurse, with the necessary experience, having been in charge of an operating theatre. He would wish his wife to be appointed a nurse, and to be allowed to work with him, or at any rate in the same hospital or institution. We would like to hear from you as to what you think about this application. Yours faithfully, General Secretary.
