SUBJECT: International Brigade. 1st July, 1938 Sir Walter Citrine, General Secretary, Trades Union Congress, Transport House, Smith Square, LONDON, S.W.1. Dear Sir, Our Sub-Executive Committee at a recent meeting had before them a letter from the International Brigade Dependants and Wounded Aid Committee. The Committee requested financial assistance, but in view of the fact that our Executive Committee will be considering the appeal of the National Council of Labour to further assist the Solidarity Fund, no decision has been reached as to the making of a grant. I was instructed to request information from the National Council of Labour as to whether any monies have been granted from the Solidarity Fund on behalf of the Dependants and Wounded Aid Committee. The question of a further grant to the Solidarity Fund will be dealt with by our Executive Committee on 8th July, and if it is possible for you to let me have a reply before that date, I will be obliged. Yours faithfully, for the ELECTRICAL TRADES UNION. Robert Prain Asst. General Secretary. 292/946/34/116
