description Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations. Security Council Statements were made by Guatemala, El Salvador, Czechoslovakia, Pakistan, Burma, Canada and France. Except for Czechoslovakia, these countries fully supported the objectivity of the report. The United Nations was urged to make the Report's conclusion known, to circulate the freedom fighters' demands in Hungary and to adopt the draft resolution. Support was expressed for Prince Wan to be the Assembly's special representative in Hungary.
