Biographical film about a famous pilot, Varerii Chkalov (1904-1938). Chkalov is presented as a reckless hero who test-pilots new models of planes and finally undertakes a risky endeavor: a long-distance non-stop flight from Moscow to the Far East and via the North Pole to the USA.
