Despite the raging plague, and the skepticism of the foreigners, he starts to build the fleet, inspiring everybody around him with his enthusiasm. The fleet goes into battle against Turkish ships and wins. A chain of other victories follows, Ushakov becomes a Rear-Admiral. The film was followed by the sequel 'The Ships from the Bastions' (1953).
