Summary:Records of this digital collection were assembled to document the work of the UN Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary established on January 10, 1957 by the United Nations General Assembly for the purpose of investigating the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Principal contributor(s): United Nations Special Committee on the Problem of Hungary Witness HHH, a writer and journalist, made his statement; the committee's questions related to the political situation in Hungary before and during the revolution, with a special interest in the situation of the churches and land ownership. Witness III, a student at Debrecen University in 1956, made his statement; the committee asked questions about his expulsion from a Budapest University. Witness JJJ gave an account of the events in Győr.
