Description
Summary:"Affiche uitgegeven in 1995 voor de herdenking van de staking bij het dagblad New York Daily News. Afbeelding: kleurenfoto van een schilderij over de staking bij de krant. Onderschrift: Ralph Fasanelle The Daily News Strike 1993 Oil on Canvas 30 x 40. Tekst: America's Labor Heritage. The Daily News strike brought the people of New York City together, says noted artist Ralph Fasanella. It was a strike for all workers. I felt the whole country was behind the strikers. The Tribune Co. promoted the Daily News as New York's hometown paper, but was more than willing to spend millions to bust its unions. The company didn't realize the emotional attachment New Yorkers have for their hometown unions. When management declared all out war on Daily News workers in 1990, the united response from the city's labor movement inspired one of the greatest labor victories in decades. The Tribune underestimated the spirit and strength of New York's working people. New York is still a union town. © Eva Graphics, 923 Saw Mill River Road, Box 231, Ardsley, N.Y. 10502."
