Description
Summary:The series contains reports, newsletters, and press releases of the General Secretariat and of the National Helsinki Committees. The publications of the General Secretariat include annual reports on the human rights situation in the CSCE-OSCE countries, thematic reports on larger human rights issues or specific human rights abuses within particular countries, and regular newsletters and bulletins. A significant part of the publications consist of IHF's own press releases and statements, briefings and press conferences for domestic and foreign journalists, and appeals and open letters to governments, heads of states and intergovernmental organizations (such as the United Nations, CSCE/OSCE, and the Council of Europe). There is large quantity of petitions, calls for action and joint complaints with other human rights organizations on behalf of the victims of human rights violations, among them dissidents, prisoners of conscience or refugees. The files also include documents on the press policy of IHF, along with details on administrative issues (like contact lists and venues) related to organizing press events. Among the publications of the National Committees one can find annual and thematic reports, periodic newsletters in both English and the local language, and oftentimes project-related publications sent to the General Secretariat. From the early years of the digital era, many of the publications included in this series were available on IHF's official website, but as the site went down a few years after the final closure of IHF, OSA remained virtually the only place where these reports are kept as a consecutive collection, both on paper and in databases which once served IHF's website. Publications received from international bodies and other human rights NGOs and maintained by IHF were incorporated in the periodical collection of OSA's Library. Accruals not expected
