Description
Summary:The 1940s in communist Romania through the history of a brothel, the Stone Cross. Before the communists came to power, the brothels in Bucharest were illegal but survived on the margins. After 1947, the communists started to close them down. This comedy plays on the discrepancy between propaganda and reality, showing the attempts to imbue the prostitutes with the proper socialist consciousness. The Stone Cross becomes involved in the celebrations to mark the birthday of "the father of communism", comrade Stalin.
