For more than two hours this huge panorama unreels in deliberate steamroller crescendo, spanning the peaceful pre-war existence of the Ukraine and the devastation of the German capital. It includes some unique impersonations of Premier Stalin, many of the Soviet military hierarchy, Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun, and, for good measure, Mr. Churchill and Mr. Roosevelt. This deafening blend of historical pageantry and wishful thinking also is threaded by a Hollywood-style plot separating and reuniting a patriotic steel worker and a school teacher.
