Description
Summary:In this typical Yugoslav partisan movie, filled with suspense and pathetic scenes, joyful locomotive engineer Tole has been assigned to accompany his party comrade Crni on a train to Kraljevo where Crni is supposed to hand over a bag containing important documents. Just before their departure Crni is killed, but nevertheless reveals his secret password to Tole who is now alone on this dangerous mission. Pursued by a swarm of German agents Tole is traveling inside the cargo wagon where he bumps into a Jewish girl on the run from the camp and the two of them immediately become friends. When they finally arrive in Kraljevo train station, Tole does not know how to reach his contact. Since no one approaches him, he leaves for a hideout where he can observe the situation, but is followed by a German agent and the chase starts. Eventually, a railway worker hides Tole in a locomotive and puts him in touch with his comrades. The mission is successfully accomplished, but Tole cannot return to Belgrade and instead departs with a Jewish girl on another wagon to join a partisan brigade. Unfortunately, the points are not properly set and Tole needs to get off the train. He is shot by the Germans, but hope remains as the locomotive with the Jewish girl steams off to freedom.
