Summary:035-0087-001 International Brigade Association SAM WILD (President I.B.A.) Commander British Battalion MALCOLM DUNBAR (Vice-President I.B.A.) Chief of Staff 15th Brigade JACK BRENT (Hon. Secretary I.B.A.) 144 HOLBORN, E.C.1 (Entrance in Brooke Street) Holborn 2583 August 10th 1943. Dear Friend, A Convention organised by the Organisations of Aid to the Spanish Republicans will take place in Mexico City on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of August. This Convention is supported by the Confederation of Workers of Latin America, the Party of the Mexican Revolution (the Government party in Mexico), student, university and women's organisations, the Mexican Trade Unions, national federations of workers, and anti-Fascist bodies. In effect, all representative elements of the Mexican people will take part in the Convention, while at the same time large sections of the other Latin-American countries are taking a keen interest in it. The points under discussion will be as follows: - I. A report on the campaign of solidarity and aid carried out in favour of the Spanish Republican refugees and fighters of the International Brigades. II. The question of new forms of solidarity and aid to the Spanish Republican refugees and International Brigaders. III. Practical means of aiding the Spanish people in the struggle against the Franco terror and of securing the liberation of prisoners. We are confident that this convention of a humanitarian character in support of those who fought the enemy of Great Britain on Spanish soil, will arouse your interest and goodwill. That is why we are writing to you, to request you to send us a message for this convention in the name of your organisation or in your own name. We know that such a message will strengthen and stimulate the Mexican people in the generous task they have taken upon themselves. As time is short, we should appreciate if you would sign the attached telegram and send it to us by return. Yours sincerely. F. Ganivet, Secretary, Hogar Espanol. Nan Green, Secretary, I.B.A. Telegram. Cordial greetings. Deeply appreciate work done by Mexican people in helping solve refugee problem. We pledge utmost support for your efforts on behalf Spanish antifascists and men of International Brigade. 292/946/35/87
