description 1929 1929 1920s 12 pages NATIONAL EYE SERVICE (Approved by the British Medical Association) For the provision of expert medical examination of the eyes in the interests of the general health of the community. The eyes and their relation to the general health VISION is the most important special sense we enjoy — we pity the blind — vision affects our lives and health — our lives and health affect our vision. Troubles which affect our eyes often induce headaches — many diseases are first discovered by their effects on the eyes and sight. An examination of the eyes by a doctor who specialises in ophthalmology will result in the placing of the case in one or more of the following catagories [categories]:— 1. Those whose eyes are found to be normal at the time of examination and require no assistance. 2. Those whose eyes are found to be simply out of focus. 3. Those whose symptoms are associated with eyestrain, but are mostly due to poor general health or debility. 292/841.4/1/61
