General Secretary Trade Union Congress, Transport House, London, S.W.1. [Handwritten inscription] "CAMBRIA," 157 BROOKHILL STREET, STAPLEFORD, NOTTINGHAM. Dear Sir, I am instructed by my Council, to forward the following Resolution, with a view of receiving your consideration. Resolution. That this Trades Council, whilst reafirming [reaffirming] its support to the War effort. Views with disgust the Governments lukewarm reception of the Beverage [Beveridge] Plan, it appreciates the many difficulties which now confronts the administration, but — beleives [believes] that the time is most opportune for the Government to show a bold and statesmanlike conception of post war difficulties which will confront the workers if nothing is done now, to give to them a clear and definate [definite] pledge for social security as outlined in the Beverage [Beveridge] Plan. It calls upon the Government to put this matter to the forefront of its legislation, beleiving [believing] that further attempts to dislute [dilute] the originol [original] scheme will eventually weeken [weaken] the national moral [morale] and requests that—, (1) Minister for Social Security be appointed. (2) That Industrial Insurance be converted into a - National Social Service. (3) That Social Security for all classes of people - should be assured.
