(6) The Minister appreciated the Trades Union Congress's desire that the industrial health service should be amalgamated with the general health service from the outset. He did not think that was possible for the reason already given, but development in industrial medicine would go on and the possibility of integrating the two services would be taken up. In the meantime, industrial patients would, of course, be received into the general and special hospitals in exactly the same way as any other patient. Mr. Allen thanked the Minister for his statement and it was agreed that a note should be issued to the Press stating simply that the meeting had been held but giving no details of the discussion. 8th January, 1946. -3-
