MEMORANDUM OF INTERVIEW. SUBJECT-2- Reference Present from Germany, I had no knowledge of any large numbers. The Basque representatives, at my request, promises to obtain information on this point which would enable me to discuss the matter with the Government. They also said there was a sad lack of airplanes in Basque territory, and in reply to my questions they stated that the Chaser planes of the Valencia government could not fly the distance necessary to reach Bilbao as they were designed for short distance flights. Finally, I was requested by Senor Lizaso to effect an introduction for him to Sir Robert Vansittart. This I promised to do.
