Description
Summary:001-0074-005 -3- adopt the necessary precautionary measures. The juridical normalisation signifies: a) The demanding of responsabilities. b) The destitution of all those who have come into office by favour of the illegal regime. c) The restoration to office of all who were barred because of their political ideas or religious convictions. d) Compensation for damages caused to individuals or corporations by the falangist regime. Sixth: To reconigse [sic] gradually public rights. Seventh: All this accomplished, the government -after having compiled the census- will call for general elections and submit its measures for the approval of the Cortes. The latter as the embodiment of public opinion will decide the political future of the country. Eighth: The international policy of the government will draw inspiration from the following principles. a) Adherence to the ATLANTIC CHARTER. b) Good neighbour policy. c) Collective organisation of the peace. d) Aspiration to the recognition of Spain as a western and Mediterranean power. e) Special care in our relations with America. SPANIARDS: Spain finds herself at the most decisive cross-roads of her history. A people without freedom cannot make a nation. The Spanish people of to-day are not unlike a kidnapped man. They have been deprived of what they hold most dear and to regain it is their most cherished ambition. They love the freedom of which they have been stripped and in order to regain it, they are ready for anything, even for the supreme sacrifice. There is only one road that leads to the salvation of the Spaniards - the road that will allow the expression of public opinion, the one that will permit the country to be master of its own fate. That path, Spaniards, is the way of Republican Democracy. In this particularly dramatic moment in our history, the N.A.D.F. conscious of its responsibility, assumes the leaderhip of the liberation movement, and emerges as the true representative of public opinion, with one end in view: To chase the tyrants from power. By one method only: the determined will of the Spanish people. With one sole objective: To restore to the nation, its freedom and independence. REPUBLICAN SPANISH PARTY.
