Description
Summary:010-0093-001 FEDERATION SYNDICALE INTERNATIONALE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS INTERNATIONALER GEWERKSCHAFTSBUND 9, AVENUE D'ORSAY, PARIS-VIIe ADRESSE TELEGRAPHIQUE, TELEGRAPHIC ADDRESS, TELEGRAMMADRESSE : INTERFED-PARIS TELEPHONE : INVALIDES 45-88 St/H/sz Conseil general 6 Paris, 10th September 1936. To National Centres To International Trade Secretariats Dear Comrades, General Council Meeting, Paris. In view of the steadily growing urgency of the problems facing the Spanish workers, our Spanish National Centre has asked that an emergency meeting of the General Council of the International Federation of Trade Unions shall be called, in order to examine ways and means of affording the Spanish workers all the moral and material solidarity which the circumstances demand. The Executive of the Spanish National Trade Union Centre (Union General de Trabajadores) feels that it is indispensable for the General Council to meet without delay. Having heard the Spanish delegation, all the delegates, fully informed as to the fundamental preoccupations of our comrades, will be able to take steps allowing the leaders of the Spanish workers to act with greater decision and rapidity for the total destruction of Fascism in Spain. As a delegation from the International Solidarity Fund, composed of G.Stolz for the IFTU and Comrade Delvigne, General Secretary of the Belgian Labour Party and a member of the Administrative Committee of the Labour and Socialist International, is leaving tonight for Madrid to organise the relief work on the spot, we would advise you that the meeting of the IFTU General Council will take place some time next week in Paris. We will let you know by wire the exact date and place of the meeting. Yours sincerely, G. Stolz Assistant Secretary 292/946/10/102
