TRANSLATION. Mr Carthy Wenceslao Carrillo, 7, Orme Court, LONDON, W.2. November 27, 1940. Dear Schevenels, On 31st July last, our friend Llopis wrote to Araquistain as follows : "Now you will imagine the anxiety which we have undergone and the wanderings which uncle Paco with his daughter has had to endure until he reached the place where we are. Soon he recovered from his weariness and we are trying to await the best we can. "At the present time, what is on our minds is what you would expect. At bottom, we should not like to leave but it depends on whether we have to go in search of another climate - if the doctor says so, we may make the journey which is no light project." As you will see from the above copy, Caballero was with Llopis who lives at Albi (Tarn), from July at least. This confirms what I said to you during my last visit, that it was the Vichy Government which handed Caballero over to Franco. As you told me that if you were certain that Caballero was in the unoccupied zone, the matter would take on a different aspect, I reproduce two paragraphs of Llopis' letter which prove it.
