Description
Summary:013-0087-001 International. WMC/WJB/DT/795. Mr. W. Carrillo, Bayswater Hotel, Bayswater Road, LONDON W.2. 4th April, 1940. Dear Mr. Carrillo, PERSECUTIONS IN SPAIN. In reply to your letter of the 30th of March we can only say that our Council are very much concerned indeed about the situation in Spain, and at our urgent request, official influence has already been used in order to induce the Franco Government to cease their persecution of Trade Unionists and Socialists. We are considering what further steps can be taken although, as you will be aware, there are many difficulties in the way of effective action owing to the circumstances created by the war. Yours sincerely, General Secretary. 292/946/13/87
