Dear Mr. Carrillo, I have your letter of the 21st October, in which you ask for the addresses of the National Trade Unions in this country, with a view to enabling your Spanish friends to apply to them for particulars of openings of employment, for which they may be suited and which they are allowed to take. We have found from experience that this question of permission for work is bound, if put to the National Trade Unions, to be referred over to the District Committee or Local Branch. We therefore suggest that you advise your friends to get into touch with the appropriate Trade Union Branch in the locality, and if they have any difficulty in getting hold of it, tell them to get in touch with the Local Trades Council, from which they will be able to get the information. This would save continual references to you and certainly short circuit enquiries which might be made. Yours sincerely, Assistant Secretary.
