EXTENSION NO. 87 PLEASE ADDRESS YOUR REPLY: CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY LIMITED, EXPORTERS, BUYING AND SHIPPING AGENTS, 1, BALLOON STREET, MANCHESTER, 4. CABLE CODES: A.B.C. 6TH AND 7TH EDITIONS; WESTERN UNION 8 LETTER; BENTLEY COMPLETE PHRASE; BENTLEY SECOND PHRASE; A.1. MARCONI, AND PRIVATE. Our Reference: Export 2052 ST/HP. Your Reference: 20th December, 1938. Mr. Tewson, Trades Union Congress, Transport House, Smith Square, LONDON S.W.1. Dear Sir, We beg to refer to our recent correspondence respecting Milkpowder for Spain, and your enquiry for £3,000 worth. You will recollect that the Co-operative Union Ltd. were considering buying £1,000 worth of Milk in conjunction with your purchase. They now inform us that they consider the Dutch Milk the better proposition, and have instructed us to buy £1,000 worth at the price of 50/6d per 50 kilos c.i.f. Cerbere. We shall be glad to learn whether you have yet reached a decision respecting this matter, and are refraining from placing this present order until we hear from you, as it is possible that with an order in hand to the value of £4,000, we might be able to get a better price, although we have no definite information in this regard. We propose to telephone you in the morning about 11.30 Yours faithfully, E. Winstanley Export Department. 292/946/32/168
