Éclair - Brussels“…Dies gilt insbesondere für die Tatsache, daß alle früheren führenden Politiker weiterhin aus dem politischen Leben ausgeschlossen bleiben werden, die Einschränkungen der Pressefreiheit und der gewerkschaftlichen Betätigung andauern weben und man den nationalen Minderheiten ihre kulturelle Identität vorenthalten wird. [] Wahlmanipulation [] Die Volksabstimmung über den Verfassungsentwurf wurde im voraus durch die Tatsache verfälscht, daß keine Alternative zu diesem Entwurf zugelassen wurde, Opposition und Kritik nicht geäußert werden konnten, demokratische Politiker nicht sprechen durften und die Wahl mit der Wahl des Präsidenten der Republik gekoppelt war. [] Die drastische Einschränkung der Menschenrechte, die Auflösung des Parlaments und einer großen Anzahl von Gewerkschaftsorganisationen, die erhebliche Einschränkung der noch erlaubten gewerkschaftlichen Betätigung und die unzulässigen Einschränkungen der Pressefreiheit in der Türkei wird verurteilt. [] Folter [] Die anhaltenden Berichte von Folter, die große Zahl der Inhaftierten, die anhaltenden politischen Prozesse, die Schwierigkeiten, mit denen sich die Verteidiger auseinandersetzen müssen, die ständigen Forderungen nach der Todesstrafe, die jetzt zur Routine geworden sind, und die nachlassende Unabhängigkeit der Justiz geben Anlaß zu tiefer Beunruhigung. …”
