Summary:1979 1914-1918 "Extracts from 'This is my life: an autobiography of a nobody' by E.J. Robinson" [T0505], 1979, Robinson, E. J. This manuscript was deposited in the Labour Party Library in 1979 by the author. It was later transferred to the Communication Workers’ Union, who gave it to the TUC Library Collections in 1997. Mr Robinson was born in Camberwell, South London in 1894 and joined the Post Office as a boy telegraph messenger in c.1908 and worked in London and Eastbourne as a postman and later Post Office Manager until his retirement in 1954. He was active in the Union of Post Office Workers, holding branch and district office, and in the Labour Party, being elected as Labour Councillor for Deal in 1943. These Extracts relate to Mr Robinson’s experiences during World War I.
