Summary:1927 1880-1914 "Gertrude Tuckwell (1861-1951)" [t0191.jpg], c. 1925 Gertrude Tuckwell (1861-1951) was secretary of the Women's Trade Union League 1896-1904 and its President from 1905-1921 when the league merged its work with the TUC. The League's information files, now known as the Gertrude Tuckwell Collection were deposited with the TUC Library. The collection included printed material (press cuttings, pamphlets and reports) and manuscript material (correspondence and personal notes) it covers the whole range of contemporary issues relating to women's political and employment rights, including anti-sweating campaigns, union organisation, health and safety, political activities, suffrage campaigns and World War I.
