Summary:2011 1980-95 "Brendan Barber: TUC Millennium Film Project", 2011, Trades Union Congress Interview with Brendan Barber, part of the TUC Millennium Film Project Brendan Barber (1951- )worked for an Industry Training Board, joining the TUC in 1975 as a policy officer dealing with training issues in the Organisation and Industrial Relations Department. In April 1979, he became head of the TUC Press and Information Department, returning to the Organisation and Industrial Relations Department as head of department in 1987. Here his responsibilities included dealing with inter-union relations, employment law and training policy. In 1993, Brendan became deputy general secretary and then General Secretary in June 2003.
