Description
Summary:"Notre Europe and the Fondation pour l’innovation politique (Fondapol) have brought together 13 European think tanks with the aim of making recommendations to the Trio of presidencies. The future Trio of the French, Czech and Swedish Presidencies will be active at a key moment of the EU agenda, from July 2008 to December 2009, with the ratification of the Treaty of Lisbon, the budget review, the European election campaign and the renewal of the European Commission in 2009, the preparations for a new Lisbon Strategy for 2010 and negotiations of a post-Kyoto treaty. 13 European think tanks (Bruegel, CER, CEPS, DemosEuropa, DIIS, ECFR, Eliamep, EPC, Europeum, Fondation pour l’innovation politique, Notre Europe, SWP, SIEPS) worked together in order to present precise recommendations regarding tomorrow’s major strategic issues to the new Trio. This project receives support from the French, Czech and Swedish governments. Its core result is the report Think Global – Act European (directed by Elvire Fabry, Director Europe-International, Fondation pour l'innovation politique and Gaëtane Ricard-Nihoul, Secretary General, Notre Europe) which was presented at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris on 23 May. On this occasion, the representatives of the 13 think tanks involved put questions to Jean-Pierre Jouyet, French State Secretary in charge of European Affairs, Marek Mora, Deputy Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs, Håkan Jonsson, Swedish Minister of State, responsible for European Affairs. Several Director Generals of the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament and various political leaders of the Member States also took part.
