Description
Summary:"Identification and assessment of employment and social impacts are challenging exercises due to their diversity and complexity. Proposed policy options may create and/or destroy jobs, affect people's incomes and quality of life, support their participation in society, etc. Over the last few years much experience has been gained in measuring employment and social effects, but significant scope for improving such measurements still remains. The new study "Assessing Employment and Social Impacts of Selected Strategic Commission Policies" builds up further capacity in this area by informing about standard and 'best available' methodologies and by applying them in a number of (hypothetical) case studies in four strategic policy fields: transport, internal market (VAT), energy and trade. The study includes a database providing an overview of existing techniques to assess social and employment impacts."
