Summary: | "The labour law of the European Community, termed "social policy" in Title XI of the EC Treaty, consists of a variety of directives concerning employment contracts, employment rights on the restructuring and close down of enterprises, equal treatment, industrial safety and collective labour law. In addition, European enactments exist in the areas of conflict of labour laws and international procedural law. Finally, law from the Council of Europe is also relevant in labour law.
The aim of this collection is to offer systematic access to the most important EC enactments in the area of labour law. The text appears in three languages and in synoptic form in order to facilitate quick access to the legal text in three official languages. This is advantageous for those who often first analyze the content of a European law by comparing different language versions. Moreover, the synoptic form is a great advantage for academic instruction since in this fashion legal terminology from two foreign languages is imparted en passant, and students from other member states can more easily follow the lecture material presented in a foreign language. Finally, legal research should have available a comprehensive, yet handy and manageable collection of European labour law. Also, those predominantly occupied with general European private law gain herewith simplified access to legal texts which as part of European private law remain relevant beyond the sphere of labour law." |
