Als lid van de Belgische afdeling van de Vierde Internationale was hij betrokken in de ontwikkelingen rond de vorming van linkerzijde in en naast de BSP. Uiteindelijk was hij één van de oprichters van de Revolutionaire Arbeidersliga (RAL) in 1971. Een jaar later verliet hij deze organisatie en richtte hij de Groupe Marxiste Internationaliste op.
