Summary:1939 1918-1939 "Fred Bramley (1874-1925)" [T0491.jpg], 1918-1939 Fred Bramley (1874-1925) was born at Pool near Otley and worked as a cabinet maker in Bradford and then London. He was a member of the Independent Labour Party (ILP) and lectured on Clarion Van tours for five years. He was an active member of the National Amalgamated Furnishing Trade and was later appointed as organising secretary. In 1915 he was elected to the TUC Parliamentary Committee. He was appointed as TUC assistant secretary in 1917 and elected as general secretary in 1923. He was a member of the 1924 TUC delegation to Russia and died in October 1925, while attending a meeting of the International Federation of Trade Unions in Amsterdam.
