Janise and Gerard Mattew made an appeal in Hiroshima holding a photo of their daughter. Victoria was born with severe deformity in her right hand. Testing positive for DU (depleted uranium) exposure after serving in the Iraq War, Gerard sued, together with seven other veterans, the Department of the Army for failing to inform then of the danger posed by the exposure to DU. (Nov.2005, Hiroshima. photo by Nobuo Kazashi). In Dec. 2008, the Italian Cabinet approved a €30 million compensation package for Italian veterans suffering from serious diseases due to DU exposure. Of the 1.703 veterans who are covered under this package, 77 have already died. They where deployed in Bosnia, Herzegovina, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. BAN DU NEXT! SAVE CHILDREN!
