"Enquiry into Joint Production Committees, 1942" [HFR0229], 1942
Workers and management were encouraged to form Joint Production Committees to discuss efficiency, output and sometimes piece rates and bonuses. By the end of 1943, over 4000 Joint Works Production Committees had been established in the engineering and shipbuilding industries. The Amalgamated Engineering Union carried out this Enquiry as part of their series of reports into wartime production. These two tables, from different sections of the Enquiry, show the range of issues relating to work organisation, welfare and conditions which were discussed. |
