Summary:2011 "Osborne, Pam", 2011, HistoryTalk Pam completed a course in commercial training at school, after which she did clerical work in various companies mainly in their sales departments, including British Eagle Airways (based at Heathrow), Minimax, and Norsk Hydro UK Ltd. After raising a family she returned to work on a part-time basis, running a pre-school with the assistance of other mothers., and then worked in education as a PA at Brunel University. She witnessed many technological innovations in the work place. In the late 1960s, electronic typewriters and telex machines were introduced. She recollects this era as a time when she greatly developed her office skills. She remembers the first computers coming into the workplace in the mid-80s and she relates the advent of the internet and e-mails. In his clip she describes the strict gender divide at work, and how unusual it was for women to reach management level.
