Summary:1985 1980-95 "Journalists' strike at BBC Television Centre, London 1985" [BW0203], 1985, Trades Union Congress National Union of Journalists picket line 7 August, 1985 during a 24 hour protest following the decision by the BBC Board of Governors to ban the Real Lives documentary on Northern Ireland "At the Edge of the Union". The NUJ argued that the decision was overt censorship following pressure from the Home Secretary, Leon Brittan. The programme was eventually broadcast with some amendments.
