Trained Staff: Private bedsitting room, communal dining-room and sitting-room accommodation. Resident Maids: Either cubicles or single rooms. Dining-room and sitting-room accommodation. Recreation rooms and recreational facilities of the same type as for professional staff, later described under general accommodation. Daily Workers: Women: Mess room and rest room (combined if numbers are small) with free cooking facilities. Good cloak room accommodation with lock-up lockers, bath room and shower. Men: Mess room and rest room combined, with free cooking facilities; good cloak room accommodation with lock-up lockers, bath room and shower. General Accommodation: For details see appendix. The amenities provided should be of a size proportionate to the number of staff. Trained domestic staff to share in all indoor and outdoor recreational amenities with the nursing staff. 2. Work and Off-Duty Times. i. Hours of full-time work. It is recommended that there should be a maximum of 96 working hours per fortnight. These hours to be identical for everyone, regardless of position. ii. Holidays: (a) Domestic Administrator and Assistant. Six weeks' holiday per annum for Domestic Administrator and Assistant Administrator, taken in not less than two periods. Having regard to the exacting nature of her work, there should be a rest period of three months for the Domestic Adminsitrator after not less than ten years' service. It was agreed that a special point should be made of the necessity of this rest period on account of its benefit to her general well-being and efficiency. (b) Trained Staff should have five weeks' holiday per annum divided into not less than two periods. (c) Resident Maids should have three weeks' holiday per annum increasing to a maximum of four weeks after five years. (d) Daily Women should have a fortnight's holiday per annum. (e) Men should have a fortnight's holiday per annum. 8
