Her Royal Highness Princess Mary. A letter of congratulation in behalf of official members of the League was forwarded to Her Royal Highness Princess Mary on her approaching marriage with Viscount Lascelles, and a letter of thanks was received. Articles of Incorporation. The Articles of Incorporation of the League were before a special meeting of the Joint Councils and Finance Committee convened on April 29th, 1920, at the Savoy Hotel, and, after discussion, the Chairman proposed the adoption of the Articles as drawn up by our Honorary Solicitors, Messrs. Fladgate & Co., 18, Pall Mall, S.W., and amended by the Joint Councils, which was carried. At one time it was found necessary to take steps to divorce from the minds of government and other bodies the erroneous idea that the People's League of Health was endeavouring to usurp — rival or overlap their privileges. That idea is now, we trust, dispelled. To sum up the League's effort during these pioneer years of effort, we have endeavoured to hold a "Watching brief" for the people, and have used our efforts and funds to create in the public mind a Health Conscience, a Will to Health, which are the guarantees of a strong and vigorous people. We need more money with which to enlarge our scope of activities. Through lack of funds we have had to curtail much of the ambitious programme originally planned for the work of the League — notably, Recreation and Entertaining clubs with bureaus of information regarding health — Travelling Exhibition, Films, Health Publications and Posters, but with confidence I await subscriptions and donations to carry on the work of the League which I am sure will be forthcoming when our country emerges from the great financial strain which the war has left behind it. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude to His Majesty the King for graciously extending to The People's League of Health his patronage, and for becoming its Royal Founder. To the Prime Minister, who has accepted the Presidency of the Welsh National Branch of the League, I voice the welcome of all our members. To the Founders, Subscribers, and to our generous donor of £1,000 Vice-Presidents, Councillors and all official Members who, by their generous and splendid efforts have made the League a "living thing" I give my deep and profound thanks. To our Honorary Auditors, Honorary Solicitors and Members of the Finance Committee the thanks of the Governing Council of the League are here tendered. To the Editors and members of the Press for their generous co-operation and help at all times I am deeply grateful. To members of the Medical Council of the League, my debt is one which is ever increasing. To all I tender my gratitude especially to those members who have contributed medical pamphlets for the propaganda work of the League and have in many cases been financially responsible for their publication. I should like to lay my humble tribute at the foot of the noblest, the holiest profession of the civilised world — the Medical Profession. What class of people are so unselfish, so untiring in their efforts for the good of humanity, as the Doctors? Why it is the only profession whose members lessen the boundaries of their own province by their unending study and work because when disease is wiped off the face of the earth to which end the Medical Faculty strive, where will be the means of livelihood for the doctors? We all know at the bottom of their hearts lies the magnificent instinct of Humanitarianism, and that they, believing in Humanity as the Crown of Being, and following in the footsteps of the Christ, devote their brains and their time to the healing of the sick and the maimed.
